The kitchen is one of the most important areas in your home as you use the spaces regularly to rustle up delicious dishes and meals. Apart from keeping the area spic and span as well as orderly, you also need some indispensable tools that help in the processing and preparation of the different food items. Following is a list of some tools that you indispensably need to have in your kitchen.
Speaking of knives, these are must-haves that come in a range of shapes and sizes. But of course, you don’t need to stock the full range of knives but just a few. Keep one knife for mincing and/or shredding vegetables, one for slicing breads, and one for carving meat. The last one should have a serrated edge. Go for knives with robust wooden or anodized handles.
Stock sufficient bowls of varying sizes that can be used for different purposes including storing curries to pastes of spices. See to it that the material of the bowls does not react with the foods/food items and also does not rust in the long-term. Also, buy space-saving bowls that can be fitted inside or stacked upon one another.
- Graduated Cups and Spoons
Don’t forget to stock your kitchen with a bunch of cups that have graduated markings and spoons of different sizes. The measuring cups have markings that enable you to pour a fixed quantity or amount of food item that is needed for cooking a specific dish. The spoons help in taking out and/or adding quantities that might be superfluous and deficient respectively.
- Cutting Boards
You’d basically need two distinct cutting boards-one for foods that have been already cooked and another for portioning raw or semi-processed foods. Go for ones that can be cleaned easily in the dishwasher.
Besides the above utensils, you’ll need cookware (skillets, frying pans, saucepans, and stockpots), utensils (plates, saucers, spatulas, rolling pins, peelers, and so on), baking supplies, colanders, heat-measuring thermometers, slow cooker, storage containers, and so on and so forth.
